Furniture is a term used in letterpress printing, which refers to the low-height pieces of wood or metal that block out white space in a composition. Movable type is laid out and set in a chase, which must be packed out with furniture before it can be printed with.
Gray Display was commissioned by legendary Glaswegian artist and writer, Alasdair Gray, and based on his distinctive hand lettering. It was developed primarily for use on Gray's late wife's headstone, and was made in collaboration with After The News and Edwin Pickstone.
